Why is Surrogacy Necessary?

Surrogacy is often used as a method to overcome infertility in couples when a woman is unable to carry and deliver a child for medical reasons. These reasons include:

  • Absence of primary reproductive organs
  • Deformation of the uterine cavity or cervix
  • Conditions that make pregnancy and delivery life-threatening for the woman
  • Multiple failed IVF attempts in the past
  • Structural or anatomical changes in the uterine endometrium
  • Severe somatic illnesses

These circumstances can be significant obstacles to having a child. However, the surrogacy center at the Militta Medical Center in Georgia is capable of effectively resolving any issues.

Requirements for Potential Surrogate Mothers

A surrogate mother must be at least 18 years old and have a confirmed high level of physical and psychological health. She must have at least one healthy child.

Finding a surrogate mother on your own can be quite challenging, especially if you are new to this method of overcoming infertility. The Militta Surrogacy Center thoroughly examines candidates and provides important recommendations for intended parents.

FAQs

Surrogacy is a process in which a woman (the surrogate mother) agrees to become pregnant and give birth to a child for other people (the genetic parents). The surrogate mother is not the biological mother of the child, as the genetic material belongs to the biological mother or a donor.

Surrogacy services can be beneficial for couples who have medical issues or obstacles preventing pregnancy and childbirth. This may include couples with the absence of a uterus, conditions that make pregnancy dangerous, or other medical reasons.

A potential surrogate mother must be a physically and psychologically healthy woman aged 18 or older, with good health and a history of successful childbirth. She should also be willing to cooperate with medical professionals and follow the guidelines of the surrogacy program.

The selection of a surrogate mother is based on her physical and psychological health, as well as her readiness and motivation. Doctors usually conduct a thorough examination and collect a medical history before choosing a surrogate mother.

The surrogacy process includes selecting a surrogate mother, preparing the surrogate and genetic mother for procedures, performing IVF or other conception methods, the surrogate mother’s pregnancy and delivery, as well as the legal formalization of parental rights to the child.
