Requirements for a surrogate mother
Every candidate is carefully screened; this keeps the program safe for all parties:
- Age from 20 to 41.
- At least one child of her own.
- Positive Rh factor.
- Body mass index of 28 or lower (weight in kg divided by height in metres squared; for a height of 165 cm that is roughly up to 76 kg).
- No chronic diseases and no previous caesarean section.
- No bad habits; tests for smoking and alcohol are carried out.
- Full medical screening and a psychiatrist's conclusion on psychological readiness.
The final decision on admission to the program is made by the fertility doctor of the partner clinic based on the screening results.
